"How Do You Measure a Year?" is a twenty-year personal project for a dad and his daughter. Every year on his daughter's birthday, a dad asks his daughter questions about her life, interests, and hopes for the future. In the span of 30 minutes we as an audience see a young girl grow up before our eyes. We see how life changes her, how she evolves as a person. There are a couple years she doesn't want to be involved in her dad's "stupid tradition" anymore. Yet she pursues, and by the end, we see right in front of our eyes how fleeting life is. How much people change in a short amount of time. How a lifetime can feel like it's over the blink of an eye when it is in the rearview mirror. While this was an experiment for this particular dad, I hope it inspires other parents to try something similar and see how their own kids change over time.
